Nero Burning Rom 6 for Microsoft Windows

Once you have created a backup of your files using the Nero Backup Wizard there may come a time when you will need to restore it. This article will guide you through the steps required to complete this successfully.

 1.  Click Start > All Programs > Nero > Nero StartSmart. This will launch the Nero StartSmart program (Fig. 1).

 2. Next, select DVD or CD from the top, move your mouse over the Copy and Backup icon (Fig.1 ) to change the menu of options.

 3. Now click the Restore Backups icon (Fig. 1).

4. The Nero Restore Wizard will now open, click the Next button.

5. Next you need to tell Nero where your backup file is. Click the yellow folder icon as indicated in Fig. 3.

6. On the next screen click the yellow folder icon again (Fig. 4).

7. On the Open  File screen click the down arrow icon next to Look in. Select the drive or folder where your backup file is located (Fig. 5).

8. Select your backup file by clicking it to highlight it, then click the Open button (Fig. 6).

9. You are now returned to the Open Backup screen, you will now notice that your backup file is listed in te "Other backup" section. Click the OK button (Fig. 7)

10. You will now see the Target/Source Settings screen. Select the Restore on original path option and click Next. This will restore your files to their original location (Fig. 8).

11. You can resore individual parts of the backup, or the whole backup by adding or removing tick boxes on the Select Files and Folders screen. Click the Next button to continue (Fig. 9).

12. The Wizard now needs to know how to handle duplicate files. The best option is "Replace local file with one in the backup if the local file is older (recommended)". Select this option then press "Next". (Fig. 10).

13. The next screen will provide a summary of the options you chose earlier. Click the Restore button to begin the restoration process (Fig. 11).

14. Once the restoration process is complete you will see a confirmation message, click OK (Fig. 12).

15. You will now see the Restore Status screen, click the Finish button (Fig.12 ). You backup has now been successfully restored.
